treetop
Cool.. What load have you in mind for the fireform ? Same as your normal load ? Edited March 23, 2016 by treetop
mick miller
I need to do more research but at the moment I'm thinking 10gn of N120. Starting load is 9.8gn with Hornady data, but there have been reports of incomplete forming when using a starting load. Max load is 10.8gn so 10gn should still be at the lower end of the scale with 10.3gn the midway point. More likely I'll start at 9.8gn, then another at 9.9gn, then 10gn and see what differences, if any, there are between the cases.
treetop
What's your normal load ? Or have you just been using factory ?
mick miller
Okay, 9.8gn forms perfectly, the freshly annealed cases don't split at the shoulder. I've now had 2 cases split from 30. This thing ,even with a fire forming load, is the nuts. 160 yard head shot on a rabbit tonight and you don't even have to really try very hard. Out of 20 rabbits, all at various distances, it was just point and shoot, all head shot. No noisier than an hmr, if anything it moderates very slightly better as I'm using a centre fire moderator that's caliber specific. My only niggle is that the fire forming loads don't chamber from the magazine quite as smoothly 100% of the time. To be expected I guess so they have been loaded as long as the magazine allows and aren't the right shape. Seriously impressed, when zeroing today at 100 yards I put 4 into a 1" group off a wobbly support and whilst rushing it and with a strong side wind. That's with a 20gn VMax dribbling out of the end of the barrel at a sedentary 3000fps.
