Farcombehall
Hi need some advice, I have a 16 month old cocker which is coming on really well, picks up real birds, hunts really well, comes on recall and pretty good on stop whistle BUT if he is retrieving from water or woods and the distant from cover or water is about 6ft the delivery is fine but in an open field he stop 3ft from me and sits or lays down with either bird or dummy and the only way I can make him come further is to keep walking backwards but every time I stop he does and I only do a couple of retrieves each session and tried leaving it for a week, he is very fast on way out and back, I was told he looks lazy, any ideas may be a training lead and short retrieves many thanks
wj939
Probably a bit excitable and doesn't really want to give it up? Place boards could help with this as he'll learn to sit infront of you right by your feet
