  1. you can use a semi auto as long as it can only hold 2 shells in the magazine if it holds more then you need a F.A.C
  2. Consumption of birds Have people read this u. Birds killed or taken under this licence may be eaten but, with the exception of the Woodpigeon (Columba palumbus), may not be sold for human consumption
  3. When I get to the place where i am going to set up I let my dog run free but keep my eye on him the moment I take my gun out the slip and recall him he comes back and sits next to me until I send him to retrieve, I find letting him run off some steam makes him more responsive to the whistle, if i am rough shooting he runs free until I need him to hunt then I call him in and send him to work he definitely knows the difference between play time and work time he is a completely different dog when working
  4. yes you can shoot pigeons now as long as you abide by the new GL rules and prove if asked that you have tried all the none lethal methods and they haven't worked and you can shoot crows only if your protecting livestock not crops
  5. Whose going to interpret the law, just because there's no livestock in the field where your shooting crows it doesn't mean that the crows will fly to another field where there is livestock and attack them so your stopping it before it happens, some of the fields I shoot on are in the middle of know where so how are they going to police you. I think if you carry some banger ropes with you and a hand held gas horn and maybe some lengths of streamers to show you have tried other methods of control they would have a hard time proving you have not done enough. In a few weeks time every thing will be back to normal and we will carry on as before and everyone will be talking about brexit again but the powers to be must make sure this can not happen again by tightening up the rules and not leave it open to somebody like Packham to cause us all grief again.
  6. Great idea you could have a celebrity chief on at the end of each program to show how to cook what was shot or caught to show nothing goes to waste
  7. If this happens quite regularly then why doesn't someone report them to the proper authority so they can be investigated or do they do it out in the open because they think they are untouchable, there is a difference between showing the dog whose leader of the pack and beating the **** out of it if the dog turned round and bit that person the dog would soon be destroyed
  8. we wont be allowed to use hides or decoys next
  9. I have a 4 year old cocker who comes hide shooting and rough shooting with me he's a brilliant dog obedient to voice and whistle commands and picks up well, he might have taken longer to train but he has never been kicked, ear pulled or roughly handled just a firm voice, he sleeps in my bedroom next to me and lives in the house with my family so is there a need for all this rough handling. it seems to me some of these so called top trainers are just interested in fast results no matter how they are obtained.
  10. Hi has anyone used supralorin implant for calming there dog it lasts for 6 months and I have been told there are no side effects, what's your opinions cheers
  11. Well done I have noticed the pigeons shot up north are very blue compared to the pigeons we get down south until later in the year when the flocks start on the rape I wonder if they move south in the winter
  12. I don't belong to any shoot but shoot pigeons on farms that have and on every farm I've seen the bird look to young to shoot, every one is saying they wont fly yet so why don't the shoots leave it a bit longer before they start shooting just because the season has started you don't have to suddenly begin it would be a much better day out if the birds were more mature and could fly better, maybe I am wrong but it seems common-sense. Could the birds be hatched a month earlier and so be older or not ?
  13. Visited my different permissions in north east Kent over the last 2 weeks and haven't seen any birds worth setting up for, the fields are all drilled mostly wheat but a few with rape but no birds on it yet and no flight lines, I wonder if anyone else is finding this the same?
  14. Thanks for all your input. Motty I will keep on with stop and recall. Saltings sounds good advice will put it into practice. Old Farrier i can see how this would work keeping him interested in something close by so he doesn't want to go else where. I will let you know how he comes on.
