Gun Watch
J Beattie & Son Damascus Black powder proof Hammergun £135 12 gauge Shotgun Trade Seller Used - Poor Condition Kettering , Northamptonshire Hammer, Cylinder, Cylinder, 30" barrels Description 14 1/4 pull to the front trigger WELL ! Where on earth do i start ! The Bad bits first i recon The stock has been chipped and broken and pinned all over the place , might have even been in three or four bits , The repairs are ok, Far from Invisible, that said WOW !!!!! What a bit of wood ! The Damascus barrels are a bit pitted (not horrific) and have had a number of dents raised over its life time They were proofed Right barrel at 740 (Thats a Big hole !) now reads under 749 (748 and a squidge) so its still in proof BUT ! you've no room for lapping with out taking it out of proof Left Barrel proofed at .729 now reads .735 so plenty in Proof Good bits 2 3/4 (70 mm) chambers It has Modern "ish" BP Proof marks (post 1974) The most Stunning engraving you'll ever see Not on a Purdey ! Stunning wood ! and that feel of a Real bit of English craftmanship that you just dont see any more Original heel and toe plates in awesome condition I was almost going to Deactivate it BUT that would be Criminal For your £135 you are getting a gun you can have the odd Black powder day, i'm sure the stock will stand up to a few years shooting or a restocking project for those dark winter nights and then a gun for life You'd be suprised how long it will take the average bloke to wear it out of proof as long as you keep it clean Best put it down now before i decide to keep it This gun is being sold by Pigeon Watch member wabbitbosher.
