I'm buying a s/h lighning XL from a classified ad, can you guys tell me what the options are for posting it? if it is at all possible - i was told parcelforce prohibits airgun deliveries unless the sender is a registered airgun retailer.

Any advice would be appreciated (packaging, costs, precautions, service to use etc etc).

NICE ONE!!! :/

Parcelforce will take it, I have sent a PCP with them before. The only thing they cared about was that the air tank was empty.

It does say they won't take "Firearms", but since this isn't a firearm you should be fine. I know they are changing it all very soon anyway..

ARMS AND AMMUNITION

All types of ammunition are prohibited from being sent using any of our services. Section 1 and 2 arms and firearms may be permitted for Zone 1 to Zone 1 collections and deliveries for our account customers only, subject to prior written agreement being provided by Parcelforce Worldwide to the customer, such agreement to be given at Parcelforce Worldwide's absolute discretion.

Zone 1 to Zone 1 collections and deliveries of Section 1 and 2 arms and firearms will only be accepted where it can be shown to Parcelforce Worldwide's satisfaction that both the customer and the addressee are registered firearm dealers. All types of firearms are prohibited from import and export to and from the UK.

Arms and their component parts classified as munitions of war, ammunition of any kind and firearms prohibited under the Firearms Acts 1968-1997 may not be sent, received or transit by any Parcelforce Worldwide service.

Yep, where in there does it mention air guns?

An air gun, assuming we are talking sub 12ft/lb, isn't a section one or two firearm, like I said in my first post.

Section one firearms require a firearms certificate, things like .22 Rimfire etc.

Section two firearms are smooth bore guns, shotguns, which require a shotgun certificate.
