I am selling some of my rifles and just wondered if anyone was interested.

They were all purchased by me new and have only been used by me and all have the original boxes and all manufacturers accs and manual etc.

Winchester 94 Trapper 16" barrel as new in 30-30 (minuscule mark on stock near heel plate and tiny ding on f/end otherwise mint £199

Remington 25-06 Mountain Rifle. Pretty well as new with detachable Magazine and lots of ammo. £420

Steyr Ultralight (£1170 retail) with wood upgrade (cost £200) in 308. just over 7 lbs with full mag and scope ready to shoot. Fired less than 200 rds so as new £850. Scope not included.

Howa .325 WSM Stainless with best Pac Nor ported barrel and 'nice' custom wood stock £695 (barrel alone was £500 as imported before fitting)

Howa .300 WSM Stainless / synthetic £350 barrel shot less than 20 rds

They can be seen in the Midlands area by arrangement (Leics/Derby/Notts) or in the E Mids if you wish to try them in the field.

Basically I seem to have acquired more rifles than I regularly use and having just bought two more custom jobs to replace two of those for sale it seems sensible to reduce the collection to rifles that will be used constantly rather than just for say a couple of periods per year.

I now have a new 300WSM and 325WSM and have bought a 25WSSM as an alternative to the 25-06.

The 30-30 was used for dense woodland deer shooting, often at 20-30 yds with open sights and since that woodland has now all been opened up I have no real use for it.

The Steyr 308 was bought for the hill. I wanted a real lightweight rifle and expected to see it used 2 or three times a year in Scotland but age and infirmity takes its toll and I doubt I could even carry that for far now over those steep and rocky landscapes north of the border.

Just barrels I am afraid (Varmint New £95 threaded and chambered ready to screw on)

I have gone over to Sako 461's for my 222 and 223's - small action in keeping with the round size and the early Sakos are so much better than the latest ones.

So am I to post you a barrel then Dave? or are you waiting for me to say I will fit it into the price?

I'm trying to get hold of a .223 action without a lot of success. One i did find was silly money (I could get a whole one with a good barrel for what was being asked).

I'll have a word with Lorraine and try to convince her that it's better to have and not need a barrel than not to have one and need it. :good::D or something to that effect. Anyway she just bought a table for the patio.

So now that I haven't answered the question at least you are confused at a higher level and about more important things.:lol::lol::D

Oh I suppose so. If he must :D

PM him the cost (although he claims you've already told him) and your address for payment.

Signed

John,

The Howa as bought (new) was a Stainless Synthetic in 300WSM. I bought it purely for the action as I immediately rebarreled it with a 325WSM barrel. But before I took off the original barrel I popped on a scope, bore sighted it and put a few factory down it.

That particular day I had set up targets at 100, 200 and 275 yds on a field for ammo testing and had made a mess of the 100yd target with other cals although did see that the 300 was shooting approx on song. For convenience only I then put a few onto the next target at 200yds hence the group as shown above. I still had half a doz rounds left in the box when I went home so although the group was/is very impressive it was perhaps more luck than anything else, being honest. However the previous 3 were all well withing 3/4" at 100yds.

So the barrel has seen less than a box of ammo and the action perhaps 150ish but of course 325WSM.

It is all near enough as new and yes I do think the barrel is a good one all things considered.

This is the action with new barrel and home made stock
