fieldwanderer
I went to a rifle match a long time ago now when I wasn't a member anywhere but I think I just said I was with the club I'd just left. I've been "playing" with a bow just lately, despite not being in any club for 25yrs or so. I've picked it all back up pretty quickly and taken to shooting a couple of times a week. I asked a couple of clubs about joining but got the feeling they see any newcomer as a bit of a money-maker (£50 induction before you can join) So, I got to thinking about getting myself as good as possible and entering a couple of open competitions, kind of just to spite them. Anyone know if "open" really is open to anyone, or won't they let me compete if I'm not a member of any club?
Ultrastu
Sounds i bit like i did a few years ago .not a member of any hft clubs (members shoot their socks off every weekend on the course ) so i entered one of the competitions of a club that runs throughout the summer and a came 3rd overall . Sweet i thinks .next year its bigger and better well attended .and i win .3rd year its not as well attended but i decide to defend my trophy and win it again . After that i get bored of competing and give it up . My competion bsa ultra getting the occasionl outing every now and then . Give it a go .its nice to come in as a total newcommer and destroy every one . And when asked how i got so good i say shooting rabbits and squirrels .
