knocker Posted June 25, 2007 Report Share Posted June 25, 2007 i'm a nooby at this pigeon stuff, what i want to know is........how many pigeon decoys should i put out (roughly) and would putting crow and maggy decoys out with them have an adverse effect on attracting pigeons ? oh and does the pattern of the decoy setting change when using air rifles not shottys ? As a general rule, you can rarely put out too many decoys, in fact most people add shot birds to their layout. Don't forget, you are trying to make the pigeons confident and if they see a lot of their mates tucking in, they often join them. I don't believe putting crows and magpies in with pigeon decoys helps bring them in, but I know plenty who do. Try it, if it doesn't work, bring them in. The only decoying I have done for an airgun, is putting lofters in a tree. I have never shot them with an airgun over crops, for me its more efficient to use a shotgun.
