Whitester
When removing a calibre do you just put it in the “ammunition to be deleted” section or do you have to put the full details of your rifle in the desposal section? CharlieT
I don't really understand your question. There is never a need to remove a firearm from your FAC or on a variation form. Having disposed of a firearm you just write to your firearms office and notify them. Then, if you wish to replace it with another you fill in a variation form detailing what you wish to acquire, no fee is payable if you submit the variation within a reasonable time frame. If you have authority to acquire a firearm on your FAC but have not yet done so, all you need to do is submit a variation form detailing actual firearms in your possession, but not those you have yet to acquire, what you wish to acquire and the ammo you want. Again, no fee is payable. Don't forget to enclose your FAC
Whitester
Ok I basically want to remove 22 lr and 223 rem. add fac air and up the ammo on hmr and 243. so from what you have said I don’t need to mention removing 22 lr and 223 Rem but just ask to add fac air and up the ammo for hmr and 243? CharlieT
Correct, as the two rifles will have already been removed, so to speak, by the fact of you selling them and then notifying the police that you did so.
Whitester
Ok understood. That only goes for the 22 lr, the 223 is a slot that i’ve Never filled or are likely to ever fill, so do I just do nothing on the 223?
CharlieT
Yes, just do nothing. Although it may be sensible to put a covering note in the envelope saying you no longer require the open authorisation to acquire the .223, just to make sure they delete it. Of course, there is a chance you may fancy a different caliber in the future, so leaving the .223 on would allow you to do a free variation in the future.
