Fox and deer - out to 75 meters

Recommended Posts

I have some woodland to shoot which is cleared for .243.

I am putting in a variation for a .243 for deer stalking and fox shooting.

My question is I am also looking to buy a .44mag underleaver rifle, open sights for the range, what are my chances of getting this for close range deer stalking, fox shooting and humane dispatch ?

Your thoughts please

Anyone got a pistol round rifle for use other than range use?

Looking at the Deer Commission for Scotland ballistics page, the rifle would be illegal to use in Scotland for any species. In England however, you should be able to use it with a 200gr and 240gr soft or hollow point bullet. The 225gr bullet would be illegal.

It is all about the projectile producing more than 1700ft/lbs of energy. The 200 and the 240 do but only just and the 225 is way below.

This is only if the new English legislation does not affect the 1700ft/lb issue.

Cheers
