mallinson
Hi all Went shooting on sunday in north yorkshire, first i drove around all the rape fields in the morning only to find that it is all now 2ft plus in height. Anywho as i was driving around i spotted a field of not so healthie rape so off i trotted with my gear shot ten woodies in an hour, thats quite good going for me. Then i drove to another farm which i had gained permision on the week before, he had just sowed his peas that previous week, also he has big banks of clover running right next to the peas. To my amazment the pigeons where all on the clover and not on the peas, although it looked like he had contractors come in and do the sowing for him. Put the decoys out one pigeon and two shots later they had all gone. Off i move to his other fields, i eventually set up in another field of fairly fresh sown barley or wheat? and shot 23 pigeons in the afternoon. The magnet worked a treat as the fields has never been shot before. Out of all the pigeons shot only 2 had food in there crops, 1 had a massive crop full of rape and rape flower heads. The other had about 15 peas and a tiny bit of clover.
tody27
Just goes to show- you're not going to decoy pigeons when theyre not hungry! tody
M ROBSON
We had a **** weekend! Drizzle all day Friday, heavy rain Saturday and sunday. The shooting got better on Sunday afternoon when the birds started moving. Monday was sunny and full of pigeon traffic, 3 guns shot 210 on barley drills. The weather has a large effect on our sport.
