shalako
Just about to buy my first shotgun and seem to be getting conflicting advice on what I should get. I'm looking to spend about £1000-1300 and so far I enjoy skeet/trap as well as sporting. I want a shotgun that will be OK for both and yet be sufficiently adaptable for me to go on the occasional hunt. I've been offered a Miroku MK60 Gr3 12g 30" with a quarter and a half inch fixed chokes, 5 years old and mint for £1050. Is this a good deal or should I look around for a Beretta with M/C? Thanks
Windknot
Guntrader.co.uk is a good way of comparing prices.
dunganick
I shoot very nearly the same gun, i have a miroku mk70 gr3 with 1/4 1/2 teagues 30" (mk70 is choked the mk60 isnt) If its in good condition and it fits you well i would go for it. Be warned the chambers rust like ******* and the fit has alot of drop at comb and isnt to everyones taste. The mk60 is actually a much better handeling gun than the 70, less weight in the barrels, as they dont have the buldge to accomidate the multi chokes. I know someone who always gets mk60's and then has them threaded by teague to keep the weght out the barrels. For a 5 year old one the price seems a tad steep, i paid £1300 for mine new and it has much nicer wood than any gr3 ive seen. I would be looking £850-£
Andy W
1/4 & 1/2 is a little open for trap, you may struggle, in my opinion a multichoke is more versatile if you want to use one gun for 3 disciplines. I have a Miroku MK38 teague multi choke sporter and use it for everything, cyl & skeet for shooting skeet, 1/4 & 1/2 for sporting and 1/2 & 3/4 for trap. I would use full for trap but have not picked one up of e bay yet. Regarding fit, it will either fit you perfectly or a Beretta will fit you perfectly, try them both and seek advice on gun fit. shalako
Thanks for all the advice, I am thinking I should give it a miss unless I can get the price down a bit.
