Keith
I've made sloe vodka and damson vodka and I have to say they lack something when compared with sloe or damson gin. Bullace's would be fine but I'd stick to gin rather than vodka. But no more damson stuff for me - the vandal whose garden backs on to mine cut down the tree two weeks ago. The tree hung over my garden and so I got a good 50% of the damsons each year for gin and jam.
Ferretboy111
Think i may well try damson gin/vodka next year- always get good hauls around the farm. Anyone tried doing anything with greengages?? Alex
Wookie
I find Damson to be a lot sweeter (and therefore more dangerous!) of the two and I have a bit of an issue with Damson and sloe gin. Kieth, if you want some damsons, my mum has loads. Ask her and she's bound to let you take some off her
Hardy
Bramble whisky is the way forward guys - Of all the variants I've tried this one is by far the most popular. Has the added benefit that theres so much juice in the fruit that you get out about 1.5 bottles per 1 bottle of spirit input You can even buy the fruit frozen from some farm shops so you don't have to bother yourself with all the scrambling around in the bushes! game_boy
I made some damson gin last year, good stuff i'll not deny but you get alot more sediment of it. I also made alot of sloe gin last year as the sloes were the size of large grapes here, so I made the most of it!! Just as well as the sloes were **** this year, but the damsons were in large supply. Already made a load of damson chutney (Delia's recipe!!) its the dogs I mut say. If your making some sloe gin chuck about 5-6 cloves into the mixture as well, comes out nice. Also I've been making damson crumble as well and for good measure chuck in a couple of shots of damson gin to the mix. again very nice. Happy days. simonp
We have Bullace Gin and its FAR nicer than the Damon Gin we have. Its smoother and sweeter, just the thing for a cold morning. The Damson Gin just wasn't a pleasant drink. Not being a fan of Vodka I wouldn't try it but its certainly worth a shot... (geddit ;-) ). Wookie
*groan* Just for that joke, you're to be forced to drink cheap, weak American beer for a week.
