Griff36
Hi there Airgunners, I'm not normally in this section but I have been asked to clear some rabbits. I have a Logun MKII pro which is fitted with a very small sound moderator (3" long x 32mm diameter), it does quieten the sound to some extent but it still scares the other rabbits when I take one out. (where I shoot there are normally 5/6 rabbits feeding together). What is the best sound mod out there for air rifles, I would like it to be silent or very near silent, so that I could take out a couple more before they realise whats going on. Would a sound mod from something like a .22 rimfire/.17 HMR be of any use, your suggestions will be much appreciated. Cheers in advance, Griff

Cheers in advance, Griff Quite honestly - you have a Logun - their moderators are also pretty damned good! Go for a larger one as a 3" silencer doesn't have the expansion size to be very effective. I have seen silencers around 9" long and I'am looking for something good, money is not an issue within reason.
Biffo1262
Actually I was refering to the gun as Logun not the moderator you have, but my advice still applies though lots of shooters swear by Wheirauch. Whatever you do avoid stuff like the Webley Pro System; there is 'nowt in it (just an expansion chamber with no absorbtion medium or active baffles) and to be honest it's pants. I can't knock the Logun its my third, never had a problem. I will have a look at the Wheirauch moderators. I have seen airguns with moderators that look like that they are from a centerfire/rimfire, if they work I will purchase one as I am looking for performance not looks. cheers for the response Griff :good:

Biffo1262
Try Portland John at Silencers4U Here He has one heck of a reputation and will certainly advise you. He does some beautiful AND very efficient custom jobs. Since VCR though he will have to send it to your local FRD unless you can get down to him personally. I've seen this issue with mail ordering silencers referred to in several places but I can't see anything in the VCR Act about silencers or components. Where does this come from? Cheers Paul

Cheers Paul It seems to be down to the interpretation of 'any pressure bearing part'. Some have even interpretated that as rubber seals as well! The Act certainly does need some clarification, I agree.
