Tody,

Camping and caravanning store have 25 litre plastic "jerricans" for sale..much the best as the top hole takes a standard rubber bung which can carry the air lock.

You can re-fit the little tap arrangement which comes as standard after fermentation, an draw off however much you want to drink without disturbing the settled yeast.

Demijohns are a lot less convenient and only hold 5 litres.

DO NOT LEAVE THE CIDER ON THE LEES ! (Lee's are the sediment at the bottom of "vessel" )

Go to a home brew-shop . A 40 pint fermenting bin can be bought for about a tenner . Buy the open top version .

Buy some demijohns and corks with a hole in to accept the airlocks for the demijohns

You will also need a syphon tube (needs to be food grade plastic )

Some sanitiseing powder . I use chempro sdp.

Sanitise the fermenting bin as per the instructions and wash bin with cold water .

Pour the "apple juice " into the bin and add the yeast .

After the first vigorous fermentation , 3-7 days depending on the yeast . Sanitise the demijohns , corks for the demijohns , the airlocks and the syphon tube . Clean all with cold water .

CAREFULLY syphon the liquid into the demijohns TAKING CARE NOT TO DISTURB THE SEDIMENT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL.

Cork the demijohns with the air locks . The air locks should have sanitising fluid in em !

The cider can sit in these demijohns for weeks (unless lots of sediment apperas at the bottom, if this happens draw off the cider into another demijohn leaving the sediment behind ) .

Bottle and enjoy !

Hope this helps

all the best yis yp
