The writer and artist BB (Denys Watkins-Pitchford) had a single eight by Tolley. It was ususually light - about 9 1/2 pounds as I recall and he found it a bit of a handful. In the sixties he advertised it for sale in "Shooting Times" and it went. Back then there were no records of numbers or certificates and he did not remember the buyer's name. More recently there has been speculation e.g. on the now defunct wildfowling forum about who has it and if they know what they have.

By the way his Midland magnum 12 is in the good hands of someone who knew him, and is still killing an occasional goose.
