Pard 007 SP LRF Review

I was initially put off getting one of these by some comments on forums and a certain Youtube video saying the rangefinder doesnt clear the turrets.
The other issue was the purported 4 X base magnification from its 22.5 mm lens.

Anyway , reckless as I am , I bought one....
I already use a Pard 007 S (short version) which has a 16mm lens on 2 different Discovery scopes , a 5-25 x 50 SFP and a 5-30 x56 FFP, these both have what I would describe as medium turrets. The S works very well on both , I dont use the on board IR , but a separate Sirius XTL torch, having said that , the onboard is very good , easily illuminating 200 + yards.

The blurb was , that the 4 X mag on the LRF version would give my scopes a 20 X base mag , and a very short FOV, as opposed to the 16 mm S versions 1.5 X = 7.5 mag.
This most definitely isnt the case, testing so far has shown there is very little difference in FOV or reticle size, basically , it ISNT anything like 20 X mag, it doesnt really appear much different to the S.
The onboard IR is easily as good as the S , 200 yards plus , and can be zoomed and directionally altered, as can the LRF.

The image is better than the S , which is slightly better than the V or the older A model, and the LRF works perfectly over my turrets , without needing to cant the unit over, it would need a turret well over an inch to 'foul' it.
The LRF works down to 1 metre and allegedly goes out to 1200, we shall test that later.
There are reports of a loud beeping noise when the rangefinder is running , there is a beep, it is definitely not loud, if you stand a metre away , you cant hear it.

Construction is the same as the S model , is fully waterproof, and the battery compartment has been moved over to the left side , as the S did foul some bolt handles.
RAV is included , but Ive not tested it yet, Ill do a video this weekend .

The only gripe is the supplied QR  collar, the unit doesnt click into it properly, but I already have the newer type collars fitted, a bit of dremel work is needed on the collar itself, which could be annoying if you only have the supplied one.

Ill do some video clips , but it records in such a big format , and the video rarely looks like what you actually see.

Its a decent upgrade if you need a unit with rangefinder, that can be swapped between rifles.
