Gordon R
Aside from the excellent photos of the lathe etc., I am impressed by the stand / tray that you have made for the lathe to sit on a cabinet. I bought a small metalwork lathe a few months ago and have been using it on a Workmate, which has a bigger footprint than your arrangement. I think I will pinch your idea. π
Shambam1962
Thanks Gordon R for your comments, Iβve waited years to have a wood lathe and suddenly I have 2. I have 2 large steel angle iron framed workbenches I made when I worked in a hydraulic company and we had a cracking workshop with all the facilities on hand. One of the benches has the Record wood lathe bolted on it, which will turn 42β between centres, and the other is my work bench. I had a bit of spare wall space next to my bandsaw and made up 2 wooden angle frames out of 3β x 2β timber and bolted them to the wall and fitted a piece of 1β plywood for the top.. My drawer unit fits underneath and can be slid out if required. It was only a temporary measure for the location of the lathe, but itβs quite handy where it is next to the bandsaw. My plan for the New Year is to sort my workshop out, and discard the junk I have accumulated over the years, thinking that will be useful, and never used it. Top of my list, is new workshop lighting which I have waiting to install.
