Deadlyferret
WW1 German Bayonet with regiment knot. Blade is greased to avoid corrosion. This was given to me so I am unsure exactly what it's full history is. From my research I believe it is the following… German Model 1898/05 G98 Mauser 'Butcher' Bayonet By Joint Makers Henckels & Anker-Werke Bielefeld, Complete with Steel Scabbard. Bayo 61- Bayo 61 A 1917 German Model 1898/05 G98 Mauser 'Butcher' bayonet. This is an original Imperial German Pattern 1898/05 'butcher' bayonet and scabbard for the Gew. 98 Mauser Rifle. This is the later model with a trimmed muzzle ring and fitted with a flash guard. I have to add a price and can only judge this on similar I have seen online. These seem to retail at £275 without the knot so I think £250 is a fair asking price with it, as these have their own collectors. Video and more photos available via WhatsApp if required. Over 18 and if posted will only be sent signed for over 18 with proof of ID. Located Southport near Liverpool. Thanks
martinj
Around 20 yrs ago there used to be a website dedicated to all things bayonet, you could buy, sell or just discuss blade markings etc. among interested parties. It might still exist although I looked for it a while back with no luck I bought something similar with a brass handle from a mate who's granddad brought it back from WW1. I paid £2 for it around 58 yrs ago (2 wks paper round money) the scabbard looked like yours. Steel with green paint and a hook on the side Mine was described as an Ersatz bayonet, more cheaply made because of the war. I bought a Lee enfield bayonet from the same era to go with it, that cost about £120 perhaps 20 yrs ago.

martinj
You might have better luck on Gunstar site: Bayonets for sale - Gunstar There must be more specialised sites out there
Deadlyferret
I might give that a go if no joy on here. I only tried on here because pen knives seem to sell to collectors straight away. Although a specialist item in some ways, this would be quite a show piece in any knife collection!
