Trainee Wild Grey Partridge Keeper

Cranborne Estate are seeking a trainee Wild Grey Partridge keeper to be part of an enthusiastic team. A fantastic opportunity is presented for the right candidate to learn and develop their skill set whilst gaining appropriate training on the job covering all aspects of the wild bird shoot.
The Cranborne Estate comprises a mixture of farming, forestry and property interests and is run in- hand. The in-hand farm is approx. 2,500 acres, the larger part of which forms the base for the main partridge beat. The owner, with his agent and farm manager, takes an active interest in the shoot.
The successful candidate will enter a 1-year fixed term contract with potential for future extension. Apprenticeships or further educational training will be supported if applicable.
The position is available to start from Mid-February, but willing to negotiate for the right person.
An attractive renumeration package offered dependent upon experience with accommodation and kennels available.
Main Responsibilities / Duties
• Control of all legal vermin
• Helping with conservation measures
• Maintaining vehicles and equipment
• Close liaison with other keepers, Farm Manager, Head Forester and Rural Estate Surveyor
whilst reporting to the Head Keeper
• Helping on shoots, walked-up days and duck flights
• Any other relevant or related duties
Essential Skills and Attributes:
• Well organised and confident, with initiative and enthusiasm
• A naturally practical person that is self-motivated
• The ability to work independently or as part of a team with good communication
• Full clean UK driving licence (Essential)
• Valid Shotgun and Firearms Certificates (Essential)
• ATV certificate (Desirable)
