jall25
Great effort But is it not a legal requirement to physically check ? If this is rolled out in Derbyshire would be happy to help
Chris Bunce
A normal trap without this technology then yes, with these traps you know exactly when they have been tripped, text and email alerts, we can see every thing via a portal, i.e. battery strength, signal and time when activated, thus alleviating the need to check every day, once tripped we visit the site as soon as practical to do so. Thanks Chris Sorry to be pedantic but is that the actual law though ?
Chris Bunce
There is no specific law, only guidance, it states that traps should be checked every 12hrs as you say, but with the use of the Remoti devise's and sorry but I will throw a quote in here: The following guide (endorsed by the UK Water Vole Steering Group including the UK Environment Agency, Natural England, Natural Resources Wales, Scottish Natural Heritage, People’s Trust for Endangered Species, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and The Wildlife Trusts) states that Remote monitoring systems, such as Remoti can be lawfully used, instead of physically checking the traps daily, provided the user ensures they are working properly and messages are responded to promptly. Use of such devices is at the landowners’ discretion. There are areas of specific animals where they cant be used but Mink are not one of them. hope that shed a bit more on this.
