We have had access to two of them for a couple of seasons but made the mistake of buying some cheaper ones last year with the rewards of our harvest. They had composite poles that flexed whenever the ground was even remotely hard to penetrate and the wooden pegs on top of these fell off all too frequently. Never has the term 'you get what you for' been more apt LB

Brian says all his poles are composite either GRP or his own ones which are Carbon fibre... both a fibre and a matrix (polymer). You mention wood perhaps and if I am interpreting this correctly....attached to a ground peg? checking people like Magnam traps etc they all do GRP composite poles. Are pure wood ones better? Winchester mentioned (on another thread) using a fire to harden the point on wooden ones which is a very traditional (1000's of years old) method and works. The common GRP ones range from (3/8") or about 9mm to 12mm (1/2") then by special order (5/8") or abut 16mm. I agree with you sound advice about using good equipment... Any thoughts? lurcherboy
The nets we have have aluminium poles Wood and the composites are fine if you permission is soft but are virtually useless when the going gets tough mate. I will check the site that we bought the system from to see if there was an option for ali poles. LB
