Sokralee
Hello, My partner has been given a BSA meteor air rifle mk4 .22 . I hope you can help we have a few questions. Do you need a proof of ownership or certificate of ownership to keep or to shoot the riffle? Do you need to need a license to keep or shoot the riffle? What are the guidelines if you wish to take the riffle outside the country or send it outside the country? Thank you so much for your help. jamesleee123
If you are in England or Wales you don't need a licence if its under 12ft/lb energy, get it over a chronograph to make sure. It's different in Scotland but all info is on the government website. Taking out of the country also depends on what country, all have different laws and regulations. To shoot in this country you need the land owners permission and pellets must not leave the boundary. If your partner is not an experienced shooter then he shouldn't be shooting at live quarry should just stick to paper targets or better still join a club. Tiny T
All of the original Meteor Range are fine rifles. They are well made, simple to maintain and new spares are cheap and plentiful if ever needed. A rebuild kit ( from Protech) spring, seals, buffer washer and grease costs around £23.00 last time I looked. These rifles when well maintained should be doing around 9 ftlb. Some folk ' tune' them but anything around 7 to 9ftlbs seems to be the sweet spot. I still have two both mk IV in .177 and .22. My only slight criticism is triggers can be on the heavy side but that is part of the experience. Hope you enjoy yours.
