FERRETBOY
Hi All I would just like to start this post with a thanks for Stuartp for his post on gun stock refinishing, followed it to the letter and now the old Breda looks like new, but when i applied the first coat last week i noticed the colour was a little too light for my likeing, not wanting to jump in the car and travel to B&Q plus it was lshing down i was wondering what was around the house i could use to darken the linseed oil, and there it was under the sink a tin of brown boot polish, i heated about ten table spoons of oil in a pan and then added half a teaspoon of polish, mix together then apply with a cloth, i suppose you can experiment on the amounts and colour for your own taste.Anyway this is probably old news to some but well pleased with result. Oh yes when the oil cools in the pan is harden up so use hot. Andy
rayo
Might try that on my knock about Investarm i to stripped the wood and the linseed oil finish could do with being a little darker
