Recommended Posts

hia.

me and my dad went to our local gunshop yesterday to get me my first shotgun and i will b getting it for christmas.

in the end we decided to get a bran new baikal single barrel 410. with a fixed choke, it seems a lovely little gun. although yet to use it.

i will be using it on my uncles farm mainly for rabbits but anything legal within comfortable range and not sure what cartridge to buy as we havent bought them yet. i want to find out what shells to get for those species at decent range and need advise on what inch , what gram , and what load. i will be buying them in boxes of 25.

ok thankyou.

If you can afford them get some 16g, 3", shot size 6 cartridges

But i use 11g shot size 6 and they are 2 1/2" those knock down bunnies well, within about 30 yards

you wont go wrong with eley fourlongs, 12.5g 6s. one of the oldest 410 cartridges out there, stud the test of time. check if your gun can take 3" magnums, then you could get the bigger loads 16g give you bit more range. like said in other post up to 30yards is clean killing range. 410 sooting is about good field craft. good luck
