fulltimeshooter
First thing's first, I shot my first woodcock yesterday, which I am well chuffed about, but I have heard you can place the feather on the a piece of the beak of the woodcock to make a hat feather, anyone know what I'm on about or how to do it? P.S. Links and pictures much appreciated, thank's!
tulkyuk
Normally use only use the 'pin' feather and put that in your hat - easy way to get the pin feather out is to remove the last full wing feather and then the pin feather pulls out easy
Quickshot
Pin feather has a 'white' or lighter tip to it than the others. QS
fulltimeshooter
Thank's to both, I should have mentioned, I already have the pin feathers, I was refering to making a hat feather from the beak and pintail, as I have heard of many times before. Thank's FTS.
fulltimeshooter
Once u have the fin feathers out chop (cleanly with a sharp knife) about an inch of the bottom beak off. You'll see two holes in the top of the beak once you've cut it, poke the two feathers in the two holes, so that the feathers curl in semetrically (you'll see what i mean if you put the feathers side by side). The blood should set the feathers in place, if it doesnt a dap of glue should do it. Great, all done thank's mate Thank's FTS.
