claypop
Now thinking of applying for FAC for bunnies. Field of approx 20 acres back onto my house with no near properties. Question is is this suitable for .22 rf rifles & good reason? Totally flat land (the Fens) & farmer will give me written permission so is it worth an application? Have a SGC passed with no problems - not that that's relevant at all... Edited January 6, 2008 by claypop

codling99
well basically ,cos of distance that a fac could travel,a suitable backstop is needed, and on flat ground you havent got much of a backstop as i see it,fac air maybe an option, but rimfire s especially .22 are very prone to rickocheas (spelling).17 hmr a bit better ,but only way of finding out is to have ground checked by police really. high seat will give you the downward angle ,but need to get the seat and convince plod that you will use it . if you get your ticket ,on other land, and wait a while, and get an open ticket ,you can ***** the land your self then, but obviouslly you need to be sure of a safe shot, nothing worth risking your ticket for a rabbit Edited January 6, 2008 by codling99

codling99
imho, that d be your best bet,be silly to assume and spend ,then get turned down,i had a farm turned down over 500 acres,on a side of a bank loads of safe shots available, but they said there was a bridle path through middle of a farm which locals use regular, and because farm is over looking the village ?? ,could have argued it out ,but thought better of it .funny old thing the police , Edited January 6, 2008 by codling99
auto culto
i would personally ask someone from the site with a fac to come round and have a look at your ground and give you there opinion of safe areas etc. That way when the Flo comes round at least you can talk the talk a bit and point out the safety issues instead of umming and arhing. He will be assessing your ability to show common sense as much as assessing the ground Any any surrounding ground issues, so you must be able show that you have had a good safety knowledge Edited January 6, 2008 by auto culto
