Dave-G
Well I had a 3-12x44 Mamba scope to check out and zero - and I wanted to pull in a try with the digital Ranger taped to the back of it, so decided last night was the time for a go at both, in the dark of course. The initial feeling is that I'm unimpressed with the add-on potential of this Monocular. To be fair it was never designed to be used in this way. It's main dissapointment was due to the main onboard Infra red light source being obstructed by the windage turret (it has two IR's) I could only see the reticle when there was loads of light where I was pointing. After giving up trying to spot any Quarry I set about shooting my target board. Some long term members might remember the layout of my boards, which also serve to check mildot spacings, and assess how far the bullet is from the point of aim. The target board is 50 yards away, and the Mamba's retical is I think, claimed to be half mildots. I had to place a torch on the grass in front of the board. The scope was set at 3x magnification, judge this for yourself. I must add that the wind picked up rather a lot after I got there. The three blocks on the top are 40mm square, held in place with offcuts of 6mm diameter carbon tube through them which I used for supplying R/C heli tail driveshafts years ago. wy111
Watched the vid, is your scope aligned properly or are you canting your rifle? The cross hairs don't seem vertical and horizontal or is it to do with the add on?
Dave-G
It's the add-on - it was only slipped over the eyebell with a snug fit that kept moving. The plan was to see how usuable the rig was before tuning out an alluminium cage to hold it all in place more firmly. I'm now waiting delivery of a smaller occular lens for the Ranger which will improve the field of view and depth of focus.... I hope
