Jaminzx7r
Got the FEO coming round for my coterminous SGC and FAC next week. SGC is a renewal and as such I have the approved gun cabinet on the wall but its only big enough for the shotty and the rifle if the FAC is granted but no room for ammo. Reading the firearms security guidelines it says I should lock away my ammunition, ideally in a seperate locked compartment inside the gun cabinet but words in the guidlines would indicate this is not compulsory. So, I just happend to have a mini steel safe I can anchor to the wall as a ammo store (multilever, keyed, not a battery digital type). So was wondering, having never bought any before, how many 0.22LR rimfire rounds do you get in a box and to make sure they fit in my safe, how big are the boxes? I'm guessing they come in 100s? about double the size of a pack of 20 fags??
pin
Usually in little plastic boxes of 50 rounds, 85mm(w) / 50mm(d) / 45mm(h). Well, that's for a box of .17HMR ammo (which is a .22 case) - .22lr might not be as high..
Jaminzx7r
Thanks, get that up on the wall tomorrow then. Based on that I reckon I could comfortably get 600 rounds in the safe, thats a few less than I've applied to hold but I'm sure he would have knocked me down to 500 or less anyway. rob13
usually boxes of 50 just stuff em behind the guns below the scope because i presume its a deep cabinet for scopes
Guest Mr Pieman
Jamin, they'll almost certainly want you to store the rifle bolt along with the ammunition i.e. separate to the rifle.
