Griff36
I have been dragged kicking and screaming upto Stirling to work on the new Stirling to Alloa railway, I will be there on and off till Easter. Are there any good clay shoots in the area?
Big_Sam
Hum, cluny clays might be your nearest. I'll have to go off and check. Another couple are Kippen and Strathallen school. See this page for clubs: http://www.scta.co.uk/public/Clubs/Grounds.jsp Edited January 17, 2008 by Big_Sam
WGD
Nearest to Stirling I expect would be Central Scotland Shooting School (www.hookedonshooting.com) but I haven't shot there so can't tell you what it's like. It's near Falkirk so probably 20 - 30 minutes from Stirling. As Big Sam says there is a gun club in Kippen but again, I haven't shot there - they only shoot Wed evenings (not sure if that's light permitting or not) and weekends. If you're based Alloa direction Cluny Clays would be about 45 minutes fom you I would guess (www.clunyclays.com). I live the other side of Stirling towards Loch Lomond and shoot at North Ayrshire Shooting School in Dalry, Ayrshire. Down the motoroway to Glasgow then out the M8/A73 I would reckon it would take you about 1 hr 15 minutes from Stirling. I would recommed a visit, they have all disciplines and are open 7 days; the traps are fully automated and you can shoot on your own if you wish (PM me if you are planning a visit, if you want I'll try and hook up with you). Their website is www.continentalshooting.co.uk and their prices are good; you pay for what you shoot (at - not necessarily kill ) and I think it is 17p per clay. Their shop is also pretty good. Hope this helps, Cheers WGD
Piebob
A bit further afield from Stirling you have Auchterhouse, which is a couple of miles outside Dundee. I guess it would take a good hour or so from Stirling. http://www.treemac.co.uk/
