starlight32
With all the roost shooting now about to take place, might be worthy of a few tips to some of our newer members. For you who do not know- Sit with the wind on your back- As with decoying birds will enter the wood to land head to wind Place yourself within a clear shooting area- Picking birds through the trees is hard work Keep your concealment paramout I sometimes place a single bird on a bouncer outside the wood for minimal attraction, but others tell me I am going to far. Out of curiosity many of you out there use lofting decoys? Any more tips feel free to add.....
anser2
. Out of curiosity many of you out there use lofting decoys? Any more tips feel free to add..... Starlight. I sometimes set a whirly up on the edge of one wood where I roost shoot. Early on it often drags distant birds over to my part of the wood ( its a huge wood ) , but on occasion it can drag birds down to the field where its set. It never works once the pigeons want to go up to roost. The trees are too high for lofters being well over 100 feet high. Last night all bar one of the 20 shots I had were 50- 60 yards up birds. i was amazed how high the RIO shells I was useing could kill outright. 14 for 20 shots was a good average for me and only one was wounded .
