Cushat
I've got one of Andy Moss's magnets - works for me. Not always (but then some days nothing works), but in the right place and used properly it does work (Berks area if that gives you any reassurance, although I'm not sure there's much geographical variation??). Andy's aren't the most refined or the lightest, but they do the job. It's not a magic wand though, and won't bring pigeons in if a) they don't want to feed there, there aren't any in the area or c) the rest of your pattern/hide etc is sloppy and scares them away. As you'll have seen from here though, many hate magnets and haven't had any success - the only way you're going to know which camp you fall into is to buy one and give it a go. You can always flog it on here or on eBay afterwards - there seems to be a good second hand market for them. Don't be afraid to take it in either if it seems to be scaring birds away. Oh, and a bouncer is a very good investment - £15 or make one yourself (imho - buy one! I've seen so many shoddy home made ones that spin around or fall over, but for 15 quid you get one that works well). Much cheaper than a magnet and I'd definitely put that above a magnet on my list of priorities.
