  1. Still here and looking for a new home but not the end of the world if it doesn't sell - always handy to have a semi-auto in the cabinet!
  2. No apology necessary, it’s me that missed the obvious - yes, it’s 12g!!
  3. Thanks for the kind words all. Current LOP is 14 3/4"
  4. Good condition throughout. A few minor knocks and bumps from use but immaculate inside and always kept really clean so cycles well. I don't do a lot of pigeon shooting and I've only used this as my hide gun so it's not had a lot of use - just the odd day here and there. Just had a full clean and check over at the local gunsmiths before sale. Comes with an extra sling swivel forend (seem to recall these costing a small fortune new!), sling and a Teague quarter choke. I think I've got a Beretta half choke somewhere but can't seem to find it so may or may not be included! I've inherited a couple of guns from my dad who's giving up his certificate so need a bit of space in the cabinet.28" barrel (27" from front of receiver but think that was classed at 28").£280Viewing very welcome but from a security perspective, copy of SGH to be supplied in advance please. No meeting in unlit pub car parks etc 😃 I'm based NE Derbyshire, not far from Sheffield and Chesterfield.
  5. Technically you need to be registered as a food business with your local authority to supply in the fur to AGHE or other end user. look on “giving up the game” on Facebook - good source of game and deer.
  6. Hi, Looking for the odd day on the pigeons here and there and just moved to the NW of England and wondering if anyone can recommend someone in this part of the world (Manchester based). I've shot plenty of pigeons in the past but haven't yet got any shooting contacts up here so happy to pay for the day. Many thanks, cushat
  7. Cheers for the info - will check them out!
  8. Just in process of moving to the area and have stumbled across a clay ground on MoD land on the edge on Deepcut Ranges... Just over the road from Pine Ridge Golf Club - can't find any details on line - anyone point me in the right direction?
  9. I've got a gunsmith friend who reckons he'd be out of business if everyone shot Brownings - too damn reliable for a gunsmith to make money out of repairs!!
  10. I'd doubt it, but without chrono it'd be impossible to tell. I'd be wanting to use a nice fast burning powder though otherwise there's going to be a lot of unburnt stuff getting deposited in the mod
  11. POA isn't relevant to accuracy! It's consistency that counts. Doesn't matter if the bullets shoot 3" high and 3" right of point of aim - that can be corrected with a few clicks on the scope. What's important is group size
  12. I'm confused!! You bought it at auction where it was advertised as resleeved. You therefore knew full well that it was. You sold it on and told the guy "it may have been sleeved, up to you to check it out". To be brutally honest, I'd be right pee'd off if I'd bought it from you as you deliberately withheld information. If you knew it was sleeved then why not just tell him outright rather than putting the onus on him - that's not being straight. Sold as seen and all that, but from what I can see you've not exactly been open and honest with the chap!
  13. Do you not still have copy of the PM in your private messages folder on PW? Either inbox or sent items?? edit - just checked my PM's and I've got stuff going back 3 years in there...
  14. It was the 90% success rate I was impressed with. Assuming you're up there with Ripon and co as one of the great game shots?
  15. The main manufacturers (Browning, Beretta/GMK etc etc) don't usually offer guns for sale at the shows. They simply showcase their guns and would expect you to go through one of their dealers to buy. Plenty of gunshops on gundealers row with used and secondhand guns though, but not sure about bargains - maybe if you turn up at 4pm on the Sunday afternoon and it's been pishing it down all weekend!
  16. Not sure quite how people zero scope and take 20 shots?? For me - one shot - wander down the range, measure vertical and horizontal distance from bull (with a rule rather than guess), back to rifle (barrel now cool ) corresponding number of clicks. You're on zero. Another shot or two for confidence and you're done.
  17. You collect 5 tokens from cereal packets and you get a voucher for 1/2hr lesson/introduction at a shooting ground... 2 tokens on some packs of cereal. Eighteen quid sounds like a steal mate for the equivalent of 2.5 packets of cereal Good luck with the sale
  18. Noel - you clearly didn't read (or understand??) my earlier post. I am not having a pop over head shots - time and a place for them and only the person behind the trigger can make that decision. What I was being critical of was your frankly stupid statement: Back of head shots are like any other head shot - there is a risk of wounding without killing. Don't kid yourself it's any other way. The head is the most mobile part of the deer and a lot can happen between your brain saying "pull the trigger" and the shot actually being taken. In reality, it's only a fraction of a second. But that's all it takes for a deer to twitch or turn its head. Which could result in jawed or injured deer in the same way that a side on head shot can. Don't forget, you can also jaw a deer from behind - it doesn't need be side on - if you're a touch wide of the mark (not much room for error on a small target) then you can take the side of the jaw off and won't necessarily kill the deer.
  19. No issues with head shots in the right hands - I take plenty myself but they are only one option and should only be used when conditions dictate and not as the only shot. What I do take exception to is the absolute BS spouted by noel that back of head guarantees a 100% kill or 100% miss. Absolute and utter unadulterated TOSH. Easy to go up the side of the head and do significant damage without killing the deer - which will then run and run, before more than likely lying up somewhere secluded to die a lingering death. But then what can you expect from the "sportsman" who bragged about shooting a fox at 60 yards with 6 shot.
  20. I've got 58 of these I no longer need as reloading now (2 unopened boxes and an almost full third box) - all from the same batch. Only bought about 3 months ago and well over ninety quids worth. Yours for £50 Usual FAC only, face to face etc West Berks but am travelling around a bit in the next few days (S Wales/Midlands/NW) so meeting elsewhere might not be problem.
  21. Depends if you want to drive it (Japanese) or maintain it (LR)...
  22. Jeez, I couldn't tell you how many times I've crossed or walked along part of a footpath with a loaded rifle or shotgun
