sunshinedave
Hi guys I posted ages back (last summer) about getting an FAC. Well, 3months after I applied I got a letter back stating one of my referees failed to return their reference! I phoned the licensing guys and the referee, and they have now sent him new forms to send back (lost in the post it seems). Anyyyway, all should be well now, I imagine they have sat on the application till now, might have done some of the background work towards it? I applied for .17HMR and a moderator, but I've now after a few months of consideration, would like a .22 semi on my application aswell. As I mentioned on my first posts I'm a current military qualified Weapons Instructor and Range Conducting Officer, so have plenty of firearms experience especially with 0.22" and 5.56mm. My 0.17 HMR application should be fine, all justified correctly, have land permissions that's already approved for 0.22 etc. I was wondering your thoughts on how when the FEO comes over, how I could ask, and justify having a 0.22 semi aswell. Is semi a different ticket to normal 0.22? Essentially it's because my step-dad wants to get rid of his 0.22 semi and I'd happily take it off his hands. I'd essentially use it for hunting rabbits etc, but at shorter ranges than the HMR (cheaper ammunition for a start!), also it's nice to have an instant second shot available for when things don't go to plan. Could anyone summarise how I could turn that into a justification for having the 0.22" semi applied for aswell? Thanks guys
Wookie
.22 is .22. Semi doesn't matter as far as I can remember, so you should be fine. As for justification, .22 moderated for lamping at night, .17HMR for daylight and longer distance work. That's what I was told by the people on here... luckytrigger
Ive just had my ticket back with a slot for another .22 it mentions nothing about it being a semi or a bolt action just 22lr rifle. I just put down that i wanted another 22lr to use as a dedicated lamping set up. Turaround here is quick at the moment took two weeks

sunshinedave
Perfect, thanks guys. Infact lamping is one of the things I've started doing lately with the early evenings, I bought a £160 modified maglite (10W HID bulb in it), its cut down to 1D maglite size, and would go peeeerfectly on a rifle, illuminating the target area with 600lumens I'll ask when the FEO comes over then, say I have been doing a lot of this lately, would he consider an additional .22lr caliber on my licence if he grants one for the HMR anyway, I don't see too much of a problem with that request. PS, Paul, I'm in S Wales Though the delay has 100% not been down to S Wales Police, but infact Royal Mail
Wookie
Dave, Where did you get the maglight from? If there are plans for it on t'internet, I might be tempted to modify mine to make something a little more bright that my torch...
alexm
Though the delay has 100% not been down to S Wales Police, but infact Royal Mail You'd think they could have phoned earlier though, wouldn't you? The referee forms are meant to be sent in no later than 28 days after you apply, so why didn't they call 2 months ago? Therefore, out of the 3 months delay, I make that 66% their fault!
