nilly71
Hi all Just thought i would let you know, i had my 1st hunt last night. Went out for rats and shot a rabbit. A friend usually shoots rats at a local farm/riding school and asked if i would like to help him. How could i resist? we set up in the middle of the riding school he held the lamp while i shot, and after about 15 minutes up popped a rat, i shot but missed. Half our later up popped another rat, shot and there was a loud thud, went to have a look but could not find it. After about an hour shot another. Waited a couple of more hours but nothing, so we went for a walk over the field, managed to shoot a rabbit after about half hour. unfortunatly it was not a clean kill so it took another shot, close up. I had now idea how hard it is shooting at night standing up. Tried the rats again but it got to about 1am i had anough. Went to bed but could not sleep, just got in from work completly shattered. Hopefully i will be going out again soon. Neil

lazza
You could try putting a couple of slices of bread on the floor, and then waiting for the rats to come to it. When you've finished shooting, put the bread in the bin.
Wookie
I swear by catfood for rats. Just get out a chair or something comfy and sit downwind of it and keep very still. Welcome to hunting though. Wookie
