jimdfish
One of the fields I shoot over has been cropped today. It contained barley and peas. The peas were ripe but the barley was not. there are a lot of peas spread over the field and an awful lot of the green barley ears( dont think that they are called ears). I am sure the birds will eat the peas but will they eat the barley? jimDfish
Shotgun Mike
They may feed on it if its just ripening but if its still entirely green, which i wouldnt think it is, its unlikely they will
jimdfish
I feared that may be the case. Months I have kept any passing pigeons from descending and decimating his crops and with every passing day the frisson of excitement kept growing, happy in the knowlege that my time and patience would pay off. Now the ****** has cut it early. There is not even any stubble. I did manage to get a sack full of fresh peas in the pod, which are my fave. jimDfish
