Mutley
Whats the score when shooting over rape when it's near full grown? Obviously the birds come down and the majority can be found but we all know it's a B****** to walk through! And finding shot birds at times nigh on impossible at times!!!......So what do you do??? anser2
If you want to keep your shooting I would not recomend letting the farmer see you walking through mature rape. You could do more damage than the pigeons. In that situation I would try and drop the birds on the next door field presuming it has not got a ripeing crop in it. High rape is a devil to try and decoy so you might be better decoying the next door field as the birds pass over it to your rape.
Mutley
Cheers for the reply anser2 My landowner's an old boy bless him and wants the pigeons shot period His idea to shoot them on mature rape.....i follow the tram lines and set up on an edge where the wind has laid it flat Always trying my best to minimise any damage caused, but the old guy is just happy i'm there shooting the pigeons like i said his idea, "there in that field thats where you need to be."
