YP,

Don't know how old your new baby is going to be, but you need to look at inner wings under bonnet, sill to floorpan and the chassis for rust. All easily cut out but fairly labour intensive.

The rear hatch has allways been a problem so check it can lock/unlock especially on the central locking. In fact make sure all the doors operate correctly.

Make sure the engine idles smoothly and let it idle for 10 minutes or so then floor it. Look for blue smoke. This indicates valve guides and/or seals. Ideally start the rangie from stone cold.

If its fully loaded make sure all works. Electric seats ete. etc. etc.

ABS can be a bitch to fault find if it goes wrong.

Make sure transfer box/diff lock works and does not get stuck when you apply it.

Other than that, smooth on the road, knocks, rattles etc.

Good luck and thanks for the carrot and parsnip reciepe.

No worries about that one lb .. ho ho . As i have found a 6cylinder 2.9 TDI engine thats made by the mighty benz company , its already mated to a landrover box . So i'm now on the look out for one of those big engined petrol range rovers with a manual box . Lets face it in this economic climate who has the money to put fuel into a 3.9 4.2 4.6 petrol v8 ?

Bring on the leather , air con an leccy windows ... Who said pimpin was'nt easy ?

all the best yis yp
