Sundodger
My dog is getting on in years, she is a cross between a GSP and Lab more of a family pet, she picks up for me and often puts up the odd Pheasant but sadly she is finding it hard going and has to rest all the next day, as I said she needs a little bit of help, and was wondering about a labradoodle, as a second dog Anyone tried or heard of these dogs being used for gun work. and where do I find one if suitable. gdunc
I read about one in the shooting times a couple of issues back where the bloke who writes up the gundog bit had encountered a trainer who was working with an 8 month old labradoodle - obviously not field proven but he reckoned it looked good. It is a cross of two gundogs so if the lines are right it should work. A mate at work has just bought a labradoodle pup which he reckons he'll train to the gun. Her pedigree has FTs on the lab side and poodle kennel names such as gunner's maid and the like so appears to be from shooting stock both sides. It will be interesting to see how she comes on.
