tartinjock
I have not had that condition or been a "Mentor", but I know someone who has. They are normally put on as a condition on a FAC on a first issue. The holder of the FAC will probably be given a "Open Cert" for the duration of the "Mentor" period as all shooting will be carried out with your "Mentor, who will no doubt have an "OpenCert"". The FAC Holder will be under direct supervision of the "Mentor" for a set period, in that time the FAC holder should keep a record of all shooting outings had and get them signed by the "Mentor". After a given time, apply to your FLO and ask for the "Mentor" condition to be removed, they will want proof that you have reached a required standard of "All aspects" of your shooting dicipline/sport, this can be verified by your portfolio that you will have kept and got signed off by your "Mentor". Also submit with your application a letter from your "Mentor" stating that Mr Russ91 has reached a suitable standard of Shooting/Stalking/Target Shooting, whatever your dicipline/sport is. Or words to that effect. If all is well, they will remove the Mentoring condition and reissue you with your FAC, but bear in mind, you will probably be issued a "Closed" or "Restrictive" FAC, meaning that all ground you shoot on will have to be cleared by the Chief Constable for that area. Hope that helps, Good Luck. TJ
