Hi all,

there have been mention of the CZ needing mods for the trigger to be right.......

I'm waiting on my FAC and I'm getting a CZ 452 Style.

Can some one please explain what these mods are??

also I was going to rely on the safety, Why can this fail and whats dropping the bolt??

Thanks

The CZ and the anschutz are not aimed at the same market.

Anschutz is a very expensive make, producing match accuracy guns out of the box. CZ is a cheap manufacture producing working guns out of the box. I have the CZ (because i spent the £150 i saved on a scope, and that seemed like a good idea at the time. The CZ are very accurate guns, they use excellent barrels, there was a theory that CZ choked their barrels very slightly, like is done on match guns. However im not sure this is the case (for the long version of this argument look at rimfire central)

At the end of the day if you want a gun with a great trigger, that will shoot 1 hole groups from the box. You want an anschtuz or Sako finfire (if you can get one), if you dont mind spending some time getting your gun working, then you want a CZ american (avoid the varmint as the front barrel lug causes issues in my experience and i believe the american uses action bolts not the forward barrel lug. You then want a trigger kit known as an Eric Brooks kit. SYSS often stock these, albeit there was massive demand for them at one stage with a huge back order.

One of the trigger manufactures possibly Timney actually makes a drop in unit, at greater cost.

Other mods i have done, get the trigger stoned, not just lightened, otherwise it wont be quite crisp enough. I have also cut mine down to 16" from 21" (now available at this length from new) and floated the barrel.

Problems, i have had issues with my safety, my trigger was too light, and if i worked the safety constantly then eventually the gun would fire. Completely possible when lamping. I solved this by adding some weight to the trigger, however dont trust the safety any more. The reason the safety is like this is it doesnt interrupt the firing pin like i believe most saetys do, just disengages the trigger.

I suspect what people are reffering to is the tests of safety, slam fires are where you slam the bolt down and the gun goes off, this can be tested with an empty gun. It is also worth doing the drop test. You take the gun and drop it from about 1" from the floor onto its butt (whilst cocked with nothing in it) if the gun goes off your trigger is too light.

Only problem i know about with the anschutz is that if you dont close the bolt 100% to the bottom when firing it wont strike the cartridge when you fire. This is supposed to be a safety feature so they say. I just found it anoying, but then the CZ isnt exactly faultless either.

In conclusion, if i was buying again i would probably buy anschutz, they are lovely and light, deadly accurate, reliable as heck and will hold value much better than a CZ. But they are a Scope more expensive than the CZ.
