Fac Shotgun wording

could any of you knowledgable people please help my friend, he is about to send off his application for a Fac rated shotgun and he has asked me what to write down for (reason to own one). is there any special wording that will guarantee he gets permission to own one.

Ps he does already have a shotgun and Fac1 licences.

Pest control and pigeon shooting would cover it.

The wording of the Home Office Guidance to Police on this matter is;

 

Chapter 13.18

Largemagazine

shot guns may be required to deal

with serious pest problems with wood pigeon

or corvids (rooks and crows).

Surely the reason he wants one in the first place should be the reason you give the police? If you need to find an excuse why you want something then you don't really need one.

 

If you do a lot of pigeon shooting and find yourself restricted with 3 shots then there is your reason, likewise if you are into practical or target shotgun then again there is your reason.

 

If you can demeonstrate that you have a reason for owning any type of gun then getting it on your ticket should not be a problem.

Martin the reason he wants it is for pigeon shooting, but he only wanted to know if there were any special wording that he may be required to put down as he did not want it sent back and forth to the licensing department, as some times they can be a bit funny if something is not worded correctly.
