THE BEAST OF BRUNTON TERRACE!

For months I have been plagued by this abomination of Gods wrath.

Tormented whilst I slept, nothing in my house was sacred or safe.

I was living in constant fear, fear that the beast was near.

I was minding my own business prowling the internet for videos

and generally keeping myself amused on my day off. The car being in

the garage meant I had to spend the day lounging around indoors.

So lounge around I did, but my calm atmosphere turned sour very quickly

when out the corner of my eye a dark flash shifted in my hall way.

Instantly spooked but at the same time intrigued I ventured out to investigate.

I found nothing so returned to my laptop to carry on my relaxing day.

Still spooked I thought in the interests of my own safely I should at least

arm myself in case the thing came back.

Come back it did!

With my weapon at my side I typed away quite happy.

Then it appeared, first a flash then still.

It sat there staring with it's dead eyes, looking straight to my soul.

It was paralising, I could feel the fear coursing it's way through

my body.

Still it sat, feeding off my anguish.

With my whole body numb I tried to muster the energy to move,

then my right hand began to twitch, slowly it lifted up to my weapon

as though controlled by an invisible force.

I took hold.

Weapon in hand I aimed at the beast, it did not move, it sat.

I looked it in the eye, it knew it's time had come.

BOOM!

The noise was almost deafening.

But not as deafening as the almighty roar of the beast.

It thrashed around on the floor like a mad man possesed.

Head and limbs flying in all directions in an attempt to

protect it's self from another blow.

Suddenly it shifted like lightning towards the hall way cupboard.

I launched after it, I needed to know it was dead!

I hunted everywhere but it had vanished in to thin air.

As quick as it had appeared it was gone.

I noticed some cracks in the plaster and woodwork,

closer inspection revealed a trail of blood, the blood of the beast.

I made quick to my bedroom to fetch some tools, with hammer

and screwdriver in hand I set to dismantle the layer of the beast.

A few minutes later I had cracked open the main chamber,

gingerly I shon the torch in to the layer.

There it was, laying lifeless on the floor of it's dark domain.

Being wise to it's devious way I treaded lightly when I aproached

the beast.

I picked up a stick and prodded the lifeless corpse, it did not move.

At last I thought to myself 'the beast is dead'

No longer will I live in fear in my own home, my torment was over.

nice shot,

what do you think of the gun? often thought about buying one.

cheers,

Toby

I think it's great to be honest, I've had mine for about two years now

and it's never let me down.

I've got another one that I've made a stock for

that I use for ratting and the occasional bunny stalk.

You can pick one up for about £60.00

I'd rate them very highly! :good:

im quite suprised the beast ran off after recieving a shot like that !

is the gun .22 ? im guessing the gun id C02 ? i too have been looking at C02 guns, mainly for the fun aspect but often find them lacking in power. What lbft does the one in the pic push out. Is there ANY C02 guns out there what can push near the 6ftlb mark. surely it cant be hard for them to make one what does. look at the crossman ratcatcher, that pushes 7-8 ( i think! ) lbft out and that operates with the same C02 bulbs.

I think it was running on pure adrenalin.

The pistol in the photo is my .177 Beeman 2004E.

It's not a C02 one though, it's a pneumatic.

You can buy them for about £60.00

Power is set at 3ft-lbs or 410 feet per second.

Great for close range rabbits, rats, pigeons,

and most importantly 'beasts'

I'm pretty sure the most powerful air pistol you can

buy is the HW 45 by Weihrauch, it's a pneumatic

the same as the Beeman but it has two stage adjustable

power for plinking or more power for hunting.

I'd avoid the C02 ones though, bit of a pain with

varying power plus you need to buy C02 capsules.

Are you going to get it mounted? Maybe put it up on the wall....

Well, it is my first kill.

First time I've killed a beast should I say.

If I could find a taxidermist to do it on the

cheap I might consider it

so its a PCP pistol  how many shots per charge do you get?

didnt it go through the mouse and hit you floor / wall ! :yp:

It's not a P.C.P. it's just pneumatic, it works on the same

basis that a gas ram rifle does only the Beeman

has no recoil at all.

Have a wee look at this: http://www.airsoftadventure.co.uk/shopscr718.html

I'm glad you managed to put an end to the "beast"!

At 2.4 ft/lb you need more power to [responsibly] shoot bunnies and rats though...

I'd agree with you if my pistol was a .22 caliber but in

.177 I've humanely dispatched rabbits with head shots

out to 16 or 17 meters.

Plus I use a scope and a stock on my other Beeman.

I think far to many people are of the impression that

any rifle or pistol that is not set to 12 ft/lbs is useless

for hunting or killing small game.

Thus is not the case, argue if you will.

The company i used to work for had a division which was recycling, so naturally the office was located on this site which happen to be the recycling yard, i used to have great fun in the office poping rats and mice, nearly every day a few shots would ring off, in 12 months i must have had around 200+ rats and 1000's of mice, great place to work, not the most hyginic i doubt though.

All with my trusty Anics Skiff A3000

I came accross a chart some time ago which showed how much power was required to kill different small game animals. It was published by Crosman if I remember correctly. It said 4ft/lb for a rabbit headshot. You say you can take them with a 2.4 ft/lb pistol at 17 metres (don't you mean feet?) - that's quite an achievement even in .177  but personally I will be sticking to my 12 ft/lb .177 rifle

With Crosman being a company in the public eye everything will rely on 'what people think'

There has never been tests conducted on animals to figure out whether or not

a pistol producing 1 ft/lbs would be enough to kill an animal.

Scientist's can only speculate as to the damage different powers and calibers

would do to the said animal, maybe by shooting at rabbit skulls or something.

But that doesn't show whether or not it would kill the animal, it's just speculation.

It in most cases when using less power you would just have to be closer to your target.

In my experience 3 ft/lbs is more than enough for close range hunting.

I wouldn't rely on things that you read in magazines or the internet.

I wouldn't even rely on what I'm telling you right now.

The best way to figure things out is to try them yourself, that way you have

a solid and valid opinion, my opinion is valid from the point of personal experience.

And it was 17 meters!

Give it a try some time, you might surprise yourself.
