cubix
I is the M77 Mk 2 the Hawkeye - I thought not, but saw one in a gun shop today marked as M77 Mk2 Hawkeye. What do you think?
bob300w
No it's not the same, you can buy the M77Mk2, or the M77 Hawkeye. The Hawkeye has an improved trigger, improved recoil pad (red, as opposed to the Mk2 in black) and is the standard rifle, any other models, i.e. Frontier, Target, Ultra-light, International are still Mk2's. Just to add to the confusion, the African and Alaskan models are Hawkeye. To keep it simple, red recoil pad, Hawkeye, with better trigger, and slimmer stock. cubix
That's what I thought Bob, I knew about the trigger but didnt want to argue the toss. Would the synthetic stock have the red recoil pad as well?
bob300w
That's what I thought Bob, I knew about the trigger but didnt want to argue the toss. Would the synthetic stock have the red recoil pad as well? According to my catalogue, the synthetic stock Hawkeye has a black recoil pad, just to further muddy the waters. Edit; There you go; http://www.vikingarms.com/mainframe.html Any queries give them a ring and ask for Paul. cubix
Thanks Bob, was a 243 synthetic stock screw cut for mod. for £585 which aint bad for a Stainelss Steel Hawkeye. I think I need to check the model number. But I suspect it's the Mk2.

I think I need to check the model number. But I suspect it's the Mk2. Lets dig a bit deeper on this one; The Hawkeye in 243 with synthetic stock, is the HKM77RFP with a 22" barrel. The Mk2 243 is also listed as model HKM77RFP, so it would appear that in this instance, they are one and the same.
cubix
I know the Mk2 had the better trigger than Mk1, and the Hawkeye has the same. This one was also screwcut - do you know if they now come from the factory like that? I'm going to email them for model number.
bob300w
No idea, ask them when you email.
cubix
Seems there's no model number on it, but hawkeye Mk2 is written on it apparently. I dont think I'm dealing with the firearms guy, so it's a bit hard finding out. Might go back and have a looksee.

The model number will not be on the gun, only on the box,
