Uncle Phil
Hello again to all. Although not by any means new to guns, I have just got my first air rifle and am eager to get started. If anyone would be willing to accept a responsible and mature starter in a trip they're planning - whether it be rabbits, pigeon, vermin or whatever - I would be extremely grateful. I live in Reading but am not necessarily restricted to Berkshire. I am ready and willing to drive any reasonable distance... Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire etc. BTW My membership of the BASC is on its way with the necessary insurances. Cranfield
Anyone who joins and then asks to be taken shooting within their first few posts, is unlikely to get a (favourable) response. Would you take someone shooting you didn't know, or at least have some idea of what they are all about ? As has been said already, post around the Forum, ask some questions, give out some advice, get yourself known, attend a clay shoot (even if you don't have a shotgun, you can always score and have a laugh), go to a Meet Up, generally build up some credibility. Thats what other people have done and believe me, it works.

He is asking to go a shooting trip with someone, there is no mention of wanting advice, apart from someone to show him what to do out in the field. If he wants advice , then post questions in the appropriate section. Everybody gets help on here, with some very sound knowledge and experience available to any new shooters. I was just trying to explain why he is unlikely to get an invite out shooting.

Uncle Phil
Please accept my humble apologies if I have got off on the wrong foot here. Being new to the sport, I figured that I would get a better understanding of the basics when out in the field with someone who's experienced. Now that it's been pointed out, I do accept it may have been somewhat forward As far as visiting farmers and asking to shoot their land; well I reckoned that there wouldn't be all that many who would welcome a complete novice, and to get at least some experience under my belt before embarrassing myself. I do intend making a full contribution to this forum - and a couple of other ones - but without even having fired a shot in the field, my options on what to post are somewhat limited! I visited the Basingstoke Air Rifle and Pistol club today, and will be joining next week. I fully intend meeting up with like-minded people, and using the guns on a regular basis. Many thanks indeed for your kind offer salisburykeeper, PM on its way. Happy daze, Uncle Phil.
Tink
Hello Uncle Phil, I have just returned from holiday and have seen you post. I do mostly game shooting and stalking. If this is of any interest to you then send me a personal message, with contact information. All being well, I would be happy to accomodate you. It is rather unfortunate that users of this forum are pre-judging others. I will help anyone if they ask.
Cranfield
Tink (London) and salisbury keeper (Salisbury), its very good of you to offer some shooting to "newbies", well done.
Uncle Phil
Many thanks, Tink, very much appreciated. PM sent.
Tink
Uncle Phil I have replied to your personal message, the offer also applies to Malc1. Any other new shooters wanting advice or "newbie sitting" please feel free to send me a pm. It is in the interest of our sport to support new shooters and help them along the long , and sometimes rocky path to shooting heaven. I have been game shooting for some 30 years, and wouldnt have managed what I have without the help of others.
Tink
SalisburyKeeper Many thanks for the invitation, I have noted your telephone number and will bare it in mind when at a loose end. I can return the favour with some wild boar shooting in Turkey, in December of this year. I will ring you and discuss details if you are interested?
