I`ve done some research as I go out with my son/brother from time to time where I have permission. Neither had a shotgun certificate at the time. I agree for perfect security why not get one? However, although it`s confusing, the Law`s not quite as restrictive as some of the posts seem to state. The Law mentions you may shoot without a licence under the direct supervision of the occupier of the land. This is obviously not just the owner otherwise the law would say so. It therefore includes the tenant, or (I would argue) the person with the shooting rights. Earlier posts quote BASC as saying that no test case has yet been taken which would clarify whom "the occupier" includes. It states they are pushing for a statement that it includes those with shooting rights.
