Ballymac
With all this wet weather and flooded fields etc is it doing to be a good season for the ducks. I notice that we only have one picture of a duck so far, last year there were lots shot at this stage. Maybe over the weekend there will be a few more ducks hanging in cool rooms aroundthe country

anser2
wet weather can be good for ducks at this time of year , but not always good for duck shooting . So much water everywhere means the duck have a wide choice of feeding areas. Much of my present shooting in coastal and usualy we have good numbers of mallard comeing out to the saltmarsh to have a drink after a feed of corn ( which makes them thirsty ). This year the corn is so wet they do not need to come out for a drink. On the other hand last year my friends inland marshes were so dry no duck used them until after November while I was enjoying a bumper start to the coastal season . So successful shooting depends on where you shoot as well as the weather. Edited September 5, 2008 by anser2
