0.223": WHAT SCOPE?

300 yards in daylight, lamp-light or both? For a £330 daylight scope, you could shop around for a second-hand Leupold VX-III, or consider a new Bushnell 4200 bought directly from the USA. If you are going to be shooting in low light conditions, buy yourself a s/h European-made scope. Personally I find my 3-12x56 Meopta and Zeiss scopes are easily good for 300 yards, the Zeiss in particular giving astonishing performance in low light.

Make sure you allow for decent mounts.

Baldrick, thanks for your reply. :stupid:

It would be 300 yards daylight, tried a Meopta the other day, it was a x12 or 14 and thought that I would still like some thing a little larger mag, for range shooting and field.

I have been looking at the new NIkon Monarch range :good:

Also have you tried importing from the states, any problems :o

:good:

It sounds like you need at least a 4-16x, probably a 6-24x scope. I bought my last Meopta from the USA, from Eurooptics.com. It worked out pretty cheap when the dollar was weak. I didn't have any problems importing it.

I was thinking of a 4-16x Nikon Monarch for my .17 HMR recently. Uttings.com still has them on sale, and based on the comments on the American forums, they're pretty good for the money.

Baldrick,

If you are interested in a Nikon, have alook on Uttings now, there's a discontinued Nikon Monarch 6.5x20x44 AO M Np Riflescope for £279- down over a £100- pounds :hmm:

:hmm:

if memory serves me thats the airgun model designed to parallax a close ranges

Thanks, I will take a look.

i've just got a burris 6.5-20x50 for the .17hmr and it looks like a good bit of glass, with some decent mag. Have yet to zero it due to the weather
