anser2
Now the harvest is over there are few pigeons on my patch in North Norfolk , but I found 20 odd birds feeding on an old rape stubble yesterday. I got a new side by side ( Larona ) last week and thought it would be a good chance to try it out. The pigeons were very skittish with most ignoring the decoys and magnet . After 20 mins I switched the magnet off and a few birds began to look interested. A single pigeon sailed into the decoys... a gift. The first trigger seemed a bit stiff and the result was a double miss. The same with a second bird shortly after. Finally I did connect with the second barrel at a third bird. There followed a series of misses. Then high overhead bird gave an easy chance , but both barrels went off at the same time with the recoil knocking the gun out of my hands. All the trouble seemed to be coming the first trigger , the pull on the second trigger was fine. Phoned up the gunshot on the mobile and after a few sharp words free repair was arranged the following week. Now the pigeons refused to decoy except for a couple of very young birds So restarting the magnet started a trickle of pigeons coming into the decoys so only loading the second barrel I continued to shoot ending up with 16 birds. I should have had double that , but the double detonation put me off my shooting aim for a while even though the offending barrel was not loaded. Si-Bore
Hey Rob Bet that was a shock. I shoot with a friend who is basically unaware of whats going on sometimes. I often hear double discharges and when I quiz he is unaware of it! Ha! He noticed one but I think he pulls both triggers at the same time sometimes just to get more lead into the air! Hope you get it sorted! Si
anser2
Thanks Si-bore, the gun is being repared at the moment. Its no great problem as I have other guns to turn to. This new gun is an ejector and i am still getting used to the idea of catching the shells as they eject. I much prefer a non ejector , even if reloading is slightly slower. Not a many pigeons about , but I am waiting for a dryish day before i have another go. Nothing worse than packing up wet gear at the end of the day and trudging back across a sticky field with a sodden heavy camo net on your back. Its a bit early for many duck on the coast , but managed a greylag and snipe on the 1st and 4 mallard on the 3rd.
