Difference between different gun lengths ?

Hi All

I wondered what the difference in use of a 28", 30" and 32" shotgun will be ?

I'm looking for my first gun for clay busting and from reading the posts and speaking to people the majority say that I should generally be considering a 30"

I've come across a 32" version of a gun I was looking for which is discontinued so I'm not sure if I'll be able to find it in 30"

Now I know that there are lots of alternative guns which are available in 30" for my price bracket .... but I was hoping that when I try a test mount / fit that the Cynergy is good for me

So basically my exact question is what is the difference between a 30" and 32" Cynergy ?

Some threads seemed to say that the Black Ice's were barrel heavy in 32" and that in 30" they were more balanced ... but doesn't that mean that Browning made an imbalanced gun in thr 32" version which I wouldn't have thought they'd do ?

Any help / advice would be appreciated

regards

Raj

Generally speaking (which normally means someone will disagree) 28" are favoured for game and fast moving disciplines, 30" is now the 'standard' even though they were considered to be 'long' not that many years ago and 32"'s were mainly for trap and dtl those sort of things - but have become increasing fashionable for sporting.

Your build may also be a factor, bigger people tend to (another generalisation) get on better with longer guns.

Ultimately if you get a chance to try before you buy, you should get a better idea of what feels right for you - there are no hard and fast rules.

Most important is what fits you and what you shoot well with - I was told to go for a 30" sporter and ended up with a 28" game gun because that's what I got on well with and it feels right and I shoot well with it. A 30" sporter in my hands feels too slow and heavy, but that's just me. So no hard and fast rule really! Try as many as you can.
